In a recent interview, Lil Durk expressed his thoughts on Gunna's plea deal in the highly publicized and controversial YSL case in Georgia. During a conversation with Akademiks, Durk was asked whether he believes Gunna "told" as part of his agreement. Gunna had previously been released with a time-served, suspended sentence in December after accepting an Alford plea.
Durk didn't hold back in his response, stating, "Now I don't sit up here and play games, man. That man told. You should have went in there and kept your mouth closed." He then proceeded to discuss the topic more generally while expressing his support and "love" for Young Thug, who is currently incarcerated in relation to the RICO case.
"If you're a rat, you're a rat," Durk told Akademiks. "If you rewind this clip a little bit, I looked into the camera and told you, if you're a rat, I fucking hate you. Because I love Thug."
Earlier this year, fans speculated that Durk was dissing Gunna in a song preview. Gunna had previously released a statement through his lawyers in December, providing details about his release. It's worth noting that an Alford plea is used when a defendant pleads guilty to specific charges without admitting guilt. Essentially, they maintain their innocence despite the plea.
Gunna clarified, "While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case, and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way." He further explained that the Alford plea signifies his admission to the single charge against him while maintaining his innocence.
